1. How are GGSC service charges calculated?
| HOW YOUR SERVICE CHARGES ARE CALCULATED Residential Example |
| TAXABLE MARKET VALUE: $50,000 |
| ASSESSED VALUE: $50,000 x .04% (personal property tax, varies based on land use) = $2,000 |
| SANITATION MILLAGE: $2,000 x .0145% (sanitation millage) = $29 |
| SANITATION FEE (based on your land use see Fee Schedule): $150 |
| TOTAL GGSC SERVICE CHARGE: $29.00 + $150.00 (fee) = $179 |
2. Are there any discounts or exemptions from GGSC service charges?

- Other forms of documentation such as a listing that property is for sale, or for rent, and for the period in which the claimant is requesting an adjustment
3. How are my GGSC service charges billed?
All GGSC service charges are billed through your personal property taxes. Charges appear on your personal property tax notice which is sent out on or around October 1, of each year.
4. I was thinking of switching my sanitation services to another provider. Why should I stay with GGSC?
GGSC offers unmatched levels of choice, price, service and convenience to District residents on a weekly basis. On average customers outside the District pay 36% more for garbage and recycling services alone (compared to our full services) and if they can get yard service collection they will pay at least 51% more than our average customer. Of further significance is the geographical limitation of our competitors and their infrastructure, with the majority confined to either a city or a series of streets or subdivisions..
| RESIDENTIAL SERVICES | GARBAGE | RECYCLING | BULK WASTE | GREEN WASTE | USED TIRES | HANDICAPPED OR SPECIAL SERVICES |
| GGSC | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Competitors | Yes | No or extra charge | No or extra charge | No or extra charge | No or extra charge | No or extra charge |
Further proof of our value is also evident by our increasing demand for annexation into the District from residents and businesses. In 2009 we annexed 389 parcels and are currently working with communities representing 1262 parcels for 2010.
5. Is there anything I can do to help GGSC reduce its costs?
Yes, one way to help is by recycling. GGSC offers recycling services to residents and businesses at no charge. By recycling you help reduce our loads which conserves landfill space and reduces fuel costs, vehicle maintenance, and disposal fees. That’s an all around win-win for the environment.
